Keith A. Bailey, Ph.D., is an independent consultant and works as a full-time consultant in the area of training and curriculum development with the University of Tennessee’s Social Work Office of Research and Public Service. He has worked with youth for over 20 years, including two years in Scotland, and spent 15 years working with children in residential care, foster care, and day treatment in both direct care and administrative positions. With youth in care, he has served as a basketball coach, Scoutmaster, choir director, and ropes course instructor.
Keith has a B.A. in Psychology from Tennessee Wesleyan College, a M.Div. from Duke University, a M.S. in Child and Family Studies, with a concentration in Child Development, and a Ph.D. in Human Ecology, with a major in Child and Family Studies, from the University of Tennessee.
He has made presentations at several state, regional, and national conferences across the U.S. and in Canada and has provided training/consultation with the Child Welfare League of America, the National Technical Assistance Center (of the National Association of State Mental Health Program Directors), and for individual agencies in both the U.S. and Canada. He also is a Professional Level Trainer for Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) and works with school teachers and staff on positive behavior support techniques and de-escalation skills.
Keith is married to Angela, and they have a daughter, Kaitlyn, and a son, Taylor.
